Is it me, or do Singaporeans simply lack of basic courtesy?

I went to see a doctor today because I am sick.

And because it was still 30 minutes before their lunch break ends, I went in to the counter to enquire if I can register first and wait in the clinic for the doctor.

You know what the nurse said?

"Anything."

And it was not just the stupidity of the reply she had given me, it was the tone in which she was using, like i just asked her what is 1+1.

Not understanding her reply, I mean, what is anything? So what do I do? How do I register? Do I write my name on a piece or paper? Or do you need my NRIC for registration? WHAT????

So I "HUHed."

And again, her reply was "ANYTHINGGGG." This time, louder, and more irritated.

For goodness sake, I am sick. Do I deserve such rudeness? I looked at her for the longest time trying to figure out why she was even considered for the job in the first place and sympathised silently for her lack of intelligence.

She probably got it then and threw me a paper and pen to write my name on and proceeded to give a loud "sigh" and continued her work.

I was really nearly about to give her a piece of my mind but decided against it.

I think I should just write to the clinic or something about hiring staffs with a fucking sad life. Pathetic.

I am sure I am not the only one around who has encountered rude service staffs before. But seriously, with all the courtesy campaigns like G.E.M.S and what not, you would think Singapore is on its way to becoming a gracious society.

You are so wrong. Graciousness is only seen on TV.
