I made a life-changing decision today!

I will not be enrolling into SIM, NTU or NUS this year.

Instead, I am going to apply for a pathway program from SMa (Murdoch University). I'm glad I heard about the school soon enough before I registered in SIM, because I find the courses offered at SMa much more interesting!

While the school is similar to SIM, I find it better as it is a non-profit organisation, so it will not keep asking you for membership fees or charging exorbitantly.

Ok. My study map would be:

  • 1st Year - Diploma in Business Administration
  • 2nd & 3rd Year - Bachelor of Commerce , Double Major in Marketing Management & Finance

Yes, it's a double major! :)

My course modules as follows:

Diploma in Business Administration (SMa)

1. Principles of Management

2. Principles of Marketing

3. Principles of Economics

4. Principles of Accounting

5. Quantitative Methods

6. Introduction to Commercial Law

7. Principles of Banking & Finance

8. Introduction to Information Technology

Double Major in Marketing Management and Finance (Murdoch University)

BUS214 Marketing Development and Planning
BUS228 Workplace Law
BUS273 Consumer Behaviour
BUS335 Marketing Research and Analysis
BUS336 Integrated Marketing Communications
BUS321 International Marketing

BUS206 Finance Law
BUS224 Corporate Finance *
BUS244 Treasury Management
BUS311 Investment Analysis
BUS322 International Finance
BUS325 Derivative Securities

So which means to say, by the end of 3 years, I will have a diploma from SMa and double major degree from Murdoch University, at a total cost of about $27K plus. The school offers flexi paying scheme and the diploma courses actually can be subsidised by SDF, whereby part of the fees are subsidised by the Singapore government. Think if I can afford the time and money, I will continue with Masters in B.A after I graduate with the degree.

I will be starting school 25th February 2008, which is just next month, and I am so excited. :) The programmme is half project based and half examination based, and I will go school for 3 days a week, and the remaining 2 days for assignments and projects.

On top of that, I am quite surprised to know that the school will provide us with a laptop free to aid our studies' need.

I am thinking of using my free days and term break to go for internships in related sectors as well, as advised by my colleagues.

SO EXCITING! I must really study very ve
ry hard! :)
